Dr. Joseph Gallagher has enjoyed practicing in Hanover for over 10 years.  He is highly committed to both his patients and education. 

He is a Fellow in the American Academy of Optometry and routinely authors clinical cases and posters at the American Academy of Optometry (AAO) meetings on an annual basis. 

Dr. Gallagher initiated the specialty contact lens fitting program for corneal disease at the White River Junction Veterans Administration Hospital, and is committed to bringing the highest standard of care to all of his patients.  

Dr. Gallagher leads the Intern program at the White River Junction VA Hospital, providing educational guidance and oversight to Optometry students.  

Dr. Gallagher also holds faculty appointments at The Ohio State University, The New England College of Optometry and Pennsylvania College of Optometry.  

Dr. Gallagher is involved with both The Accreditation Council on Optometric Education (ACOE). and Armed Forces Optometric Society (AFOS). He serves as an ACOE consultant, and as a subcommittee member for AFOS. 

In his free time Dr. Gallagher enjoys many hobbies including building, mechanical work, farming, and most any outdoor activities. He recently designed a trail race and completed the 28 mile course through the hills adjacent to his home in New Hampshire.  His wife and four children tend to an array of animals on their small farm including pigs, chickens, and turkeys. He thoroughly enjoys his time spent in Hanover and looks forward to continuing his practice centered around quality and compassionate care for his patients for many years to come.
